Worship & Music
Nicholasville UMC has a number of opportunities for members to get involved in music ministry. If you are a musician or vocalist and are interested in participating in NUMC music, please contact the appropriate group leader.
Worship Band
The Worship Band serves as part of the worship leading team for the 10:00 service. The band leads worship through modern music from artists such as Hillsong, Jesus Culture, Elevation Band, Gungor, Tim Hughes, and Chris Tomlin, to name a few. The band also leads through modern arrangements of classic hymns, such as O For a Thousand Tongues, O Worship the King, My Hope is Built, and Be Thou My Vision. If you are a musician and interested in serving in the NUMC Contemporary Worship Band, please contact Steve Stratton.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday and at special worship services. Beyond leading hymn singing, the Chancel Choir regularly performs special anthems for services. If you are interested in serving in the NUMC Chancel Choir, please contact the Choir Director, Debbie Mallory.
Special Music
During the 10:00 worship service, a special music anthem is offered every week. These special performances vary between Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, solos, and small ensembles. If you are a musician and interested in sharing your gifts and talents with the NUMC community, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact the Choir Director, Debbie Mallory.
Christmas Cantata
Each December, the Choir prepares a special Christmas Choir to perform for the church in place of a sermon for that week. Members of the Chancel Choir are joined by several others from the community to form a larger choir for this special event. Rehearsals for the Christmas Cantata will begin in October. If you are interested in participating in this unique opportunity, please contact the Choir Director, Debbie Mallory.
Technology (Audio / Video)
NUMC is always looking for people who are trained in audio production and video presentation to serve on our Tech Team. These individuals serve as audio engineers for services and rehearsals, MediaShout service builders, and run MediaShout slides during services. If you have experience with either live audio or MediaShout, or if you have a mind for technology and are interested in learning and serving in this area, contact Teri Dowdy.
