Manna Ministries

Manna started in September 2008 to provide meals to people in the Nicholasville area for free. On average, 150 people come to the church every Saturday to eat and fellowship with others. About 120 volunteers from surrounding churches and organizations give their time throughout the month to participate in serving others through Manna, making this a true community ministry.

Manna Meals

Manna’s meals are well balanced meals such as meatloaf, baked chicken and hearty casseroles and soups. The meals are also served restaurant style with wonderful conversations during the meal. The meal is offered to anyone in the community that wants a hot meal or warm fellowship.

Manna serves meals every Saturday. Want to learn more? Come out and have lunch with us one Saturday! Doors open at 11am.

Why a Free Meal Program is Needed

The need in Jessamine County is evident. There are over 600 families who qualify for a God’s Pantry free food box each month. That need is expected to double, or even triple.

In the Jessamine County School system, over 50% of the students receive free and reduced lunches.

Saturdays have been chosen for several reasons. Children receive meals at school Monday through Friday, but the weekends are a time of need. Working individuals and families would not be able to attend a mid-day meal during the week.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings distributes clothes on the 1st Saturday of the month during Manna Meals. Their purpose is to provide gently used clothes to adults and children. Children’s clothes are in highest demand. They also try to keep on hand linens, towels, shoes, handbags, and such.

New Beginnings partners with the Kentucky Works program, which helps people prepare for job interviews through interview preparation and teaching computer skills. When someone in the program has a job interview, New Beginnings will open up for them to find appropriate dress clothes for their interview.

If you know of someone in desperate need of clothes, please contact the church. If you wish to donate items, the church can give you a receipt for tax deductions.
